Describe your website.

The mission of the Gerdemann Botanical Garden is to preserve the legacy of the garden's founders, Dr. James and Janice Gerdemann. Our directive from Jim was to "experiment, propagate, learn and have fun." This private botanical garden is truly an outdoor laboratory. We are committed to maintain, and enhance the property for the purposes of enjoyment, education, research, and to insure the conservation of the diverse botanical collection and the native woodland environs.

Who is the target audience for your website?

We hope to entice interest in the development of a science research facility near to the garden. We are dedicated to the support, planning, implementation, and monitoring of conservation programs. We are offering guided tours of the garden and increasing accessibility.

What is the advantage of your website over others?

We believe the Gerdemann Botanical Garden is unique. It was developed over thirty years as an outdoor laboratory to test the hardiness of many species not normally thriving in a coastal woodland environ.

Tell us a story about this website.

My 14 year old grandson discovered the YouTube videos on the website and was quite pleased that I managed with his encouragement.
He also tested the contact pagelet and was quite impressed that it worked.

Why did you use this Sandvox design?

I wanted to use a photograph of the garden for the banner. Also liked the color background.

What techniques did you use to build this website?

Trial and error. I'm a newbie user and this is the first time I've ever designed a website. Well, actually, the Sandscape Design was the first time. The Gerdemann Botanical Garden website is active.
