Describe your website.

My website for PLAYLIST Magazine is a place for people to subscribe to our free digital monthly music magazine. Our magazine lists all the concerts happening in every venue in MD, DC and VA, along with videos and songs right on the pages. Our website, besides being the splash page for the zine, also has a Writer's Blog, a Gems Blog, information about advertising with us and a complete archive of all past issues.

Who is the target audience for your website?

Our website and magazine are of interest to anyone enjoying live music. We also highlight new musicians and interesting videos or podcasts. The venue listings are for the Maryland, DC and Virginia area, though our readers range far and wide.

What is the advantage of your website over others?

Our website offers a nice, concise library of our past magazines, each cover photo being a live link to that magazine. Our blogs have a rating and commentary option.

Why did you use this Sandvox design?

I chose the Sandvox template that allowed me to have a large banner and that also had clean, readable fonts.

What techniques did you use to build this website?

In editing the template colors for my site, I discovered that I could open the raw code in TextEdit, then have a website open and in this way, experiment with hexadecimal colors. I'd save the new code, exit out of Sandvox, hop back in and see how the colors looked. It was a quick, rather painless process for trying color options.
