Describe your website.

The website is designed to showcase the artists on my independent record label based in the Black Country. There are a number of bands and solo artists signed to the label including; Miss Halliwell, Barry's Attic, The Mekano Set, and caps, all of whom come from the West Midlands region of the UK. The music is described as alternative because it is not considered mainstream. The site contains promo videos of the artists as well streaming their music. It gives biographies and images of the bands and links where visitors can buy the music.

Who is the target audience for your website?

Our target audience is anyone who wants to listen to non-mainstream music. I guess we are going to appeal to men and women aged between 20 and 50. Some of the music will be of interest to old punks who remember the late 1970's, however, other bands on the label are much more contemporary.

What is the advantage of your website over others?

We are a small company and give a personal experience. You can contact and talk to any of the artists. We even give away free music. We are unique in that no other label is promoting such a range of excellent music. We are not controlled by promoters and advertising: we are truly independent.

Tell us a story about this website.

The images from one of our artist's graphic novel "The Bash Actor" (which was inspired by world renowned artist Tom Phillips' book 'The Humament') received a personal thumbs up from Mr Phillips' himself, he wrote "flattered by your versions of the pages and you have a great title
'v cunning' in all respects
all best wishes
tp"
Also BBC Radio 6 DJ and old punk Tom Robinson discovered our very own songwriter Caps from the site, playing him on his 'Introducing' program, creating great interest and sales.

Why did you use this Sandvox design?

I like simple yet striking designs. I like the page titles to stand out and not be buried beneath bold colours or distracting banner images. I originally used a plain white design and then went for the free White Rabbit design for one site and for the other site use Simple Gray.
When I work out how to change the inbuilt Banner images on the others I may change over, but for now I am happy with the way the sites look.
