What kind of websites were you planning to build?
I have two sites, one that is home to my record label, the other to my video production company. I wanted to be able to upload music and video files so I didn't have to hyperlink to Youtube or myspace. I want people to be able stay on site and listen and watch, rather than send them away to get distracted!
How did you hear about Sandvox?
Luckily there are not many affordable Mac web design software packages. I tried a couple of others before Sandvox. I think I actually found you in the Apple downloads section initially.
What made you decide to get Sandvox?
It is simple to use when you know nothing about web design. I knew I wanted to have text, images and either music or video files online, Sandvox allows this with drag and drop. The other software was way too complicated with all this CSS business... I didn't understand any of that. I just wanted to say, 'I want another page here, it needs to have a picture and a download', and then in two clicks have that... Sandvox allows that. There is obviously a learning curve, but you do get instant results: later on you understand pagelets etc and the site improves: but you have a solid platform from minute one.
Now that you have Sandvox, what do you like about it?
As above really: instant results. The create link function is genius (now I understand it fully!).. initially I did not understand it would automatically pick up whatever webpage you were currently on, and I would start typing a URL, only later I would go to the webpage first and then create link... wow!
Also with the demo, the ability to publish a page is great, because you know it is WYSIWYG and it will upload. That made me buy it, because even though I liked the software if it didn't publish what is the point? When I saw the page online, I bought it straight away.
What would be a good way to search for a program like Sandvox?
